From the Pulpit:
"So much has been happening in our lives. With Barbara and her multiple surgeries and me with my back issues, it seems that all we do is go to visit doctors. I am not complaining; just stating facts. Through the month of September I preached from the gospel of Luke. I am planning to continue that series by preaching in October from the gospel of Luke. There is so much wisdom to be gained in our daily living by following the example of our Savior, Christ Jesus.
Luke tells us that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem knowing there he would suffer and die. Yet, he went willingly. Would you be willing to serve God to the extent of giving your life for others? That is a difficult question to answer; yet, for many in our world it is a challenge that is very real. If you were confronted by a person with a sword to your throat who says you must confess Allah or die, what would you do?
Our situation is not nearly that severe. However, we must make decisions every day that affect how others see us as a follower of Christ Jesus. Do we live and make decisions that are in alignment with the teachings of Jesus. That, my friends is the daily challenge we face.
Are we living is such a way that others see Christ Jesus in us? Do we share the gospel with others in the things we do and say? I have often said that we are the only gospel some people may read. Are we a witness of Christ Jesus to the world by the way we live and the choices we make? How often do we think about what others see when they look at us? It is not an easy way to live; but, Christ never promised that living as His follower would be easy. My simple prayer is that God will help me to live in such a way that others see Christ Jesus in me."
